Cocoa Bay Role Play Guidelines

I. INTRODUCTION
__________________________________________________________________________________

Role Play is not a requirement here in Cocoa Bay Estates, but strongly encouraged. You do not have to be a resident in the community to be able to be involved in the role play. However, it is required that you are a resident to take on high-ranking jobs. The following guidelines and rules are to help facilitate role play and make it fun for all!

II. GENERAL
__________________________________________________________________________________

Although we are not a strict RP community, we do expect everyone to abide by the general Community Standards within this covenant and the Second Life Terms of Service (TOS).

1. No Griefing. No Scripted Attack or Magic Huds.
2. No Sexual content in front of children.
3. No Nudity in the public areas.
4. No Intruding into private homes without prior consent for RP purposes.
5. No Spy or Listening devices.
6. No Bloodlines Activities in Public Areas.

Second Life TOS: http://www.lindenlab.com/to

*In your home, you are allowed to be nude or permitted to sexual conduct in local as long as there are no child avatars present and privacy is turned on in your parcel.*

Role play that involves death or bodily injury must be agreed with all parties before the role play is to begin.

If you set out prims for a particular role play, please pick up your prims before you leave or log off.

Respect the managers, staff, and others. If you have any problems please report them to a Cocoa Bay owner.

Role Play does not exempt anyone from general Community Standards within Cocoa Bay Covenant and the Second Life Terms of Service (TOS).

No Meta Gaming, Power Gaming, or God Modding. Power Gaming is forcing your role play on another, god modding is acting like nothing can “touch” you.

a) Godmodding is when someone’s character has the ability to do practically anything without limits or boundaries. This happens when someone simply cannot be harmed by any and all means that other RPers try.

b) Powergaming is when you achieve end game results (i.e. getting the highest and most favorable outcome possible) by ignoring everything else that constitutes the game as a whole. People often powergame to force the RP to take shortcuts in a storyline or to force the RP to go in their favor. The main thing to remember is that you should not DO something to or FORCE another player and expect them to accept it. You should only ATTEMPT to do something which gives them the option whether to accept it or not.

c) Metagaming is the use of OOC information (that the character is not meant to be aware of) or OOC resources to affect one’s RP decisions. An example of meta gaming is the use of the mini-map to locate a criminal fleeing from the law, or using information you normally wouldn’t have access to. If your character does not know it realistically, then don’t bring it into your RP.

III. CONSENT
___________________________________________________________________________________

Voice is OOC unless agreed to by those involved in a role play.

Role play will only be considered valid if consent has been obtained between all players involved in a particular role play. Failure of consent will cause the particular role play to be voided. Consent can be made simply through IM to be sure the person wishes to participate in the role play.

By driving on the roads of the community or driving a boat on the waterways, you are automatically giving consent to be involved in role play. If you do not wish to be involved, please wear your OOC (Out of Character) tag found in the Cocoa Bay Community group. If you need this tag, please let a manager know. If you do not wear your OOC tag, then refuse an RP you may lose the privilege to drive in the community and/or participate in role plays in the future.

If you conduct any activities IC or OOC that is against the law, you are automatically giving consent to be involved in role play. If you are caught by police and refuse an RP you may lose the privilege to participate in role plays in the future.

IV. DRIVING IN COCOA BAY
___________________________________________________________________________________

If you do not wish to be involved in role play, please wear your OOC (Out of Character) tag found in the Cocoa Bay Community group. If you need this tag, please let a manager know. If you do not wear your OOC tag, then refuse an RP you may lose the privilege to drive in the community and/or participate in role plays in the future.

A driver’s license and license plate is required from the Department of Motor Vehicles for anyone who wishes to drive IC. You are exempt from police RP for not having a license if you are a new resident, have applied for a license, and have not received it yet.

If you drive your vehicle you are agreeing to role play. You can be subject to random traffic stops, accidents, and other vehicle related role playing.

Motorcycles and mopeds are allowed, but you will need a license and license plate.

Children may drive small/toy motor vehicle on the roads as long as they have a Kid ID.

If any vehicle is left abandoned, it will be returned.

V. CRIMES
__________________________________________________________________________________

Before starting any role play involving police, fire, or medical please make sure someone is available from the department to participate in the role play. You can do this by asking in the Cocoa Bay Holdings and/or Cocoa Bay Community group chat if any one from the department is available.

Bombings or shootings at the school are not allowed.

Fires:
Any resident can start a fire. We ask that it is HD fire so our fire department can put it out. The fire can be big or small provided the Fire Department is on to assist by simply going into Cocoa Bay Holdings or Cocoa Bay Community group chat.

There are no limits on how many fires or size and should be determined by the fire chief if it is questioned as he is the one who handles them.

Fires can be started anywhere except for private residencies unless the resident of the home approves.

City Hall, School, GOV center, FD and PD cannot be set on fire unless approved by Cocoa Bay Management or involved in an active role play and not for sake of just starting a fire.

Small Crimes:
Small crimes include robbery, graffiti on a building, stealing a car, etc.

Actions must be role played out in the Rockland County RP chat to begin, such as someone calling 911. You may then choose to continue role playing in the chat or you can continue in local chat.

Large Crimes:
Large crimes include government building fires, bank robberies, bombings, hostages, etc.

Actions must be role played out in the Rockland County RP chat to begin, such as someone calling 911. You may then choose to continue role playing in the chat or you can continue in local chat.

Any event that may affect the whole community must be approved. To receive approval, message Leo (leo1978x). Once permission is obtained a meeting must be scheduled between all role players and department heads to discuss a time and date for the roleplay.

Any large scale crimes made without approval will be voided.

VI. WEAPONS
__________________________________________________________________________________

Scripted weapons are allowed if they are not griefing tools.

You may use a combat system for special role plays such as big fights (10 or more people) between the cops and criminals, a gang war, etc. Management will provide the management server.

They are not allowed to do any damage, push avatars, or grief them in any way. Any outcome must be role played out.

Any use of a weapon/firearm that is not an act of the current role play or that is used outside of role play may be subject to OOC discipline.

If you conduct any activities IC or OOC that is against the law, you are automatically giving consent to be involved in role play. This includes possession of a weapon/firearm without a permit. If you are caught by police and refuse an RP you may lose the privilege to participate in role plays in the future. This includes possession of a weapon/firearm.
